Jean Bosco Ndayizeye, a 35-year-old entrepreneur from Matongo commune in Butanyerera province, founded the company D. Techno (Development technology) in 2020 alongside other young people. The firm was officially registered in 2023.
Revolutionizing Local Agricultural Production
D. Techno developed a machine capable of processing 4 tonnes of maize in 4 hours. This equipment replaces a labor-intensive manual method that previously required 2 months and a cost of 800,000 FBu.
Beyond this technical advancement, the company secured first place in the Inkerebutsi Day competition. D. Techno received an award of 20 million Burundian francs for this achievement.
Community Impact and Recognition
The commune of Gitega has allocated a 2-hectare plot of land to D. Techno for the construction of a factory. This site is intended to expand the production capabilities of the firm founded by Jean Bosco Ndayizeye. By providing this dedicated space, local authorities aim to support the company as it moves from its initial development phase toward larger-scale operations. The facility will house the machinery manufactured by the company, including the equipment previously designed to streamline maize processing. This allocation follows the success of D. Techno in securing recognition for its technical innovations within the region. The project remains part of a broader effort to integrate local agricultural production with increased mechanization. Construction plans for the site are expected to proceed as the company scales its operations to meet local demand. By centralizing its activities in Gitega, D. Techno positions itself to serve farmers in the surrounding areas more efficiently. This land provision represents a significant contribution to the operational growth of the enterprise.
