The Croix-Rouge du Burundi convened its annual partners' meeting for the 2026 edition on 23 October 2026. Representatives from the organization gathered to review humanitarian operations and project requirements across Burundi. This assembly serves as the primary forum for the agency to align its activities with international stakeholders and local operational partners. Discussions during the session focused on the distribution of resources and the management of ongoing programs within the country. Officials utilized the meeting to assess the current humanitarian conditions and plan for future interventions. The event concluded with a commitment to maintain the existing framework for aid delivery, ensuring that all partners remain informed of the strategic objectives set by the Croix-Rouge du Burundi for the remainder of the year.

Strengthening Humanitarian Collaboration Efforts

The Burundi Red Cross delivers essential aid to populations impacted by floods, human displacement, and various natural disasters. Roger Ndikumana, director general of the Programme of Civil Protection, attended the 23 October 2026 meeting to represent the Ministry of Interior, Community Development and Public Security. Regarding the role of the agency, Roger Ndikumana stated, "En tant qu’auxiliaire des pouvoirs publics dans le domaine humanitaire, la Croix-Rouge du Burundi contribue à porter secours aux communautés confrontées à diverses crises."

Operations conducted by the organization extend to the provision of support for Congolese refugees currently residing at the Busuma and Musenyi sites. Anselme Katiyunguruza, secretary general of the Burundi Red Cross, echoed this requirement for cooperation among partners.

Legal protections for the organization remain in effect to prevent the misuse of its identification markers. These legal provisions serve to protect the neutrality and operational integrity of the organization during its humanitarian missions across the country.
